New Division Assists Homeowners with Hurricane Damage Repairs

BARNEGAT, N.J., Nov. 20, 2012 – The Walters Group, an award-winning development firm, has announced the creation of a new division to help Jersey Shore residents rebuild after Superstorm Sandy destroyed and damaged their homes.

As residents begin the monumental task of rebuilding their homes, the Walters Group is providing the support and services they need to move forward. “Our team wants to help the people who live in our community recover and rebuild,” said Ed Walters, Jr., founder and partner of Walters Group. “We want to do our part to get this region back on its feet.”

The Jersey Shore was a painful casualty of Hurricane Sandy where many homes and longtime institutions suffered extensive damage and flooding. Throughout the Northeast, the trail of devastating destruction left behind could result in 200,000 claims for wind damage and another 200,000 claims for flood damage, according to estimates from Consumer Federation of America. Economic damages could run as high as $50 billion, according to the catastrophe-risk-modeling firm Eqecat, Inc., and $10 billion to $20 billion in insured losses. More than 1 million homes have been evacuated.

The Walters Group has the resources to assess storm damage and expedite the necessary work to be done. Working with VanDyk Group, a real estate and insurance services firm, and individual homeowners, the firm is helping with permitting issues, procuring architectural plans, financing, along with all of the other complications that go with rebuilding a home.

Walters is the developer of Ocean Acres at Barnegat, a single-family luxury residential community; Whispering Hills, a multi-family development consisting of townhouses, single-family homes, and rental apartments; and Stafford Preserve, an apartment-rental community located within Stafford Park.
