WALTERS GROUP BREAKS GROUND ON ECO-FRIENDLY LAUREL OAKS APARTMENTS
Construction Begins on LEED-Certified, Luxury, Affordable Community
BARNEGAT, N.J., Aug. 20, 2012 – Walters Homes, a residential real estate developer, has broken ground on Laurel Oaks, a new affordable apartment community in Barnegat, N.J. Situated between Barnegat Blvd. and Rose Hill Road, the mid-rise multi-family project will feature 94 apartment homes in four buildings. The income‑restricted housing project is slated to open in the summer of 2013.
These new apartments will have much to offer the community in its features and amenities. The property will include one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, a tot-lot playground, basketball court, clubhouse with fitness center, on-site parking, and 24-hour on-site management and maintenance. Each unit will be equipped with Energy Star energy-efficient appliances, including washer/dryer and dishwasher.
“As more people enter the rental market, the need for affordable housing increases,” stated Ed Walters, Jr., President of the Walters Group. “This apartment community will offer Barnegat residents a reasonably priced alternative to housing in the area.”
The environmentally friendly project will be built using green building methods and materials. The entire project is designed to meet LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and Energy Star certification.
Located in southern Ocean County, the community will be pedestrian friendly and situated near shopping and dining. Public transportation is available via Ocean Ride, a county transit system that includes Reserve-A-Ride and local bus routes. In addition, the Garden State Parkway and Route 9 corridor pass through the township and provide access to Route 72.
